Egrets, the subject of my featured gallery for April, are fixtures in many wetland areas in the United States, but it’s somewhat rare for me to find them here in Central Ohio.
I’m not sure why.
Central Ohio is part of the Egret’s normal range, according to all the reference material I’ve checked. And I’ll occasionally see one in the wetlands in Slate Run Metro Park south of Columbus.
But that’s about it.
The majority of my Egret photos were captured during my annual trip each May to Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge in Oak Harbor, Ohio, on the banks of Lake Erie. …
