Fall, the colorful season

Every fall, when the leaves begin changing colors, I think about heading out with my camera to get some photos of the fall colors.

But one of two things always happens.

One, I get busy on something else and don’t get out until the peak colors have passed. Or two, we get some heavy rains or other weather conditions that minimize the color change or force the leaves to fall early.

I think I’ve only had one trip in the last decade that was dedicated to photographing fall colors. So most of the photos in this collection, my featured gallery for October, were shot during my hikes to capture wildlife photos.

I end up seeing colors I like and move back far enough that I can capture them with the super-telephoto lens I use when photographing wildlife.

So photos in this collection that look like close-ups were likely shot from 30 feet away.

But the colors are still nice.

Hmmm … maybe I should look at my calendar and plan to get some fall color shots this year.

I add a new featured gallery the first of each month. The numbers in the gallery title represent the month and year it was featured. Last month’s featured gallery, with photos of reptiles, has been moved to my featured gallery archives.
